China UnionPay (CUP) Service

Millions of tourists from Mainland China come to Hong Kong every year to enjoy shopping and dining. The increasing number of Mainland Chinese tourists bring more business to Hong Kong retailers.

CUP cards are mainly issued by local financial institutions in Mainland China, and there are also 43 overseas member banks. Every valid CUP card bears the UnionPay logo and over 1.5 billion CUP cards have already been issued in Mainland China.

From now on, EPS merchants can accept CUP card transactions through their EPS point of sale terminals. Funds will be credited to their designated bank accounts on the following working day after the transaction day.

Below is a simple introduction to a CUP card transaction flow:

• All CUP card transactions must be performed through point of sale terminals
• PINs are required for all CUP debit card transactions
• Signatures are required for all debit and credit CUP card transactions
• Terminal receipts will be printed out for approved transactions only. No receipt will be printed out for rejected transactions
